Quite frankly, the thought never occurred to me that chewing could in fact be a lost art. Does the American diet of highly processed foods have implications that are detrimental to our health beyond the obvious diabetes and obesity concerns? You bet it does!
Turns out, there are oral-facial developmental concerns when ‘chewing’ raw foods is not part of the normal diet. Tune in to this months Hygiene Profits Mastermind Webinar to get the ‘down low’ on how chewing effects jaw bone development and how the MyoMunchie device can help your patients.
Join myself and special guest Dr. Mary Bourke, an Australian Chiropractor, Sacro-Occipital and Craniopath Practitioner as we discuss this fascinating topic.
The “Lost Art of Chewing”
and how this has impacted on oral- facial development
with Mary Bourke, B.ScB.App.Sc Chiropractor
During this course we will be discussing the origins and thinking behind the Myo Munchee, which was originally developed back in the 1960s by Dr. Kevin Bourke. He found the mandible of an Australian Aboriginal and saw the strength and density of the jaw-bone with teeth still embedded.
Fascinated by the difference of the aboriginal jaw when compared to the jaws of his patients who had teeth falling out, Dr. Bourke began looking into Westin A. Price’s work on diet and the undermining of the human skeleton and how our lack of chewing is having a massive impact in all areas of growth and development.
This led to the development of the Myo Munchee, an amazingly simple and inexpensive appliance that has stood the test of time. We are onto our third generation of users and it has never been more relevant than now.
On this webinar you will learn:
Importance of chewing- for all ages
Impacts of tongue-tie on the oral-facial development of children
The dynamics of foreword head posture and benefits of working with Chiropractors (and other body-workers)
