“Our practice first worked with Inspired Hygiene nearly 10 years ago. The PPOB was an impactful first step in developing our periodontal protocol and it has grown from there. As we have added new hygienists to our team, watching these webinars is part of our onboarding process and a great way to introduce our perio program to new team members.”

Is technology threatening our jobs?

Is there part of you that wonders if dental technology will replace us humans and threaten our jobs? You’re not alone.

Technology has taken over so many tedious day to day tasks and this is actually GOOD news.

This opens up the opportunity to more fully express our human abilities for problem solving, relationship building and critical thinking. Technology cannot replace those human to human interactions and collaborations.

If you’re considering some of the new technologies on the market or working to better integrate those you have, today’s short video shares 3 tips for getting technology to work for you and not against you.

Trying to Hire? Here’s a Tip

It seems every one of our clients is hiring. Recently, I was speaking with a practice manager about how they’re marketing their practice to recruit new team members. There was one amazing benefit that she forgot to mention in the ads. It’s easy to forget things that seem ‘normal’ to you but that may be very unique to your practice and could be very attractive to candidates.

In this brief video, I share a couple of tips to make your practice more attractive to new hires.

3 Years in and a Solid Hygiene Team

We are always so grateful when our clients share their Inspired Hygiene experience with others. Dr. Mergeurian started her practice in urban Baltimore just over 3 years ago. She called us asking for support to build a solid hygiene team and she has done just that.

Maybe this quick message from her will inspire you to reach out too. We’d love to hear from you!

Do you believe it? Book Rec

If you’re not convinced that oral infection and inflammation are a serious risk factor for cardiovascular disease, you need this book.

And if you DO believe it, you need this book! It’s that good.

The latest book from innovators in healthcare, Dr. Bale & Dr. Doneen, is an easy to read guide for reducing CVD, Diabetes and Dementia risk for you, your family and your patients. It’s full of real-life stories and realistic strategies that will give you inspiration AND ways to educate your patients to the importance of the Life-Saving screenings every dental team is capable of providing.

April is Oral Cancer Awareness Month

April is Oral Cancer Awareness Month. The Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) is now the leading cause of all oropharyngeal cancers according to the Oral Cancer Foundation (https://oralcancerfoundation.org/understanding/hpv/hpv-oral-cancer-facts/). It has never been more critical for dental providers to screen for early detection and share with patients the risks of oral cancer.

In my work coaching dental teams across the country, I find that most dental professionals rarely discuss the risks of HPV with their patients. Becoming comfortable talking about the relationship between oral sex and oral cancer is imperative because 85% of Americans will become infected with HPV in their lifetimes and will therefore be at risk for oropharyngeal cancer (https://www.cdc.gov/hpv/). Here are some other important statistics:

Are You Responsible for Your Patient’s Heart?

I know, that sounds ridiculous. So what IS your responsibility to your patients and their overall health?

Since it’s Heart Health month, let’s start there. It is our responsibility as dental professionals to identify potential risk for heart attack and stroke. Some of those are super obvious. If you’re looking for them.

In this video, I outline a few that are easy to spot and easy to bring to your patient’s attention. This is certainly, not a complete list but we’ve got to start somewhere, right?
