New AAP Staging and Grading

The American Academy of Periodontology and the European Federation of Periodontology met in the fall of 2017 at the World Workshop on the Classification of Periodontal and Peri-Implant Disease and Conditions.  During this meeting, they designed a Staging and Grading system for periodontal disease.

Watch this short (3.5 minute) video to learn more about this new system.  Click this link to go the AAP website to download the proceedings.

We Are ALL Providers of Service on the Dental Team

Have you ever been referred to as a “Non-Provider” on your dental team? Have you ever felt inadequate or not given permission to discuss and explain clinical treatment needs to the patient just because you aren’t the dentist? As a past dental assistant, I definitely have had those comments or fleeting thoughts myself.

I stand strong when I say WE ARE ALL PROVIDERS of service for our patients. Let’s face it, none of us can be successful in the care for our patients without every single team member (yes, from admin to clinical) being given first permission and second the training with use of exceptional clinical and VERBAL skills.

Watch this short video to see how this DENTAL ASSISTANT felt more empowered and confident with discussing treatment needs with her patients through “simple and common sense” communication.

[VIDEO] Is it time to harvest the seeds you’ve planted?

If you were a farmer, would you plant a crop but never harvest it? Of course not! If the crop were truly necessary, not harvesting would defeat the purpose of planting!

So why do you (or your team, or your doctor) plant seeds for treatment but never harvest?

This week’s video can help you reap the greatest harvest you’ve ever seen in your hygiene department AND help your patients get healthier.
