[Quick Video Tip] Avoid those frantic 5 minutes

You know what I’m talking about. You work hard for 50 minutes, wrap up scaling and polishing and call for the doctor exam. Those final minutes of the hygiene visit often feel like a game of ‘hurry up and wait’. The stress builds, when you know the next patient is waiting.

And if you’re the doctor, it’s no better for you. You have to find a place to stop the procedure you’re working on (usually less than ideal). Then there’s so little time left in the appointment that you feel rushed and not able to really connect with the patient and enroll the next step in treatment.

The good news is it doesn’t have to be this way. In this week’s quick video tip, I share a VERY SIMPLE step that can eliminate this stress 90% of the time. I’ve personally used this trick for years. It takes some agreements between doc, hygiene and assistants but it can make EVERYONE’S day so much easier. Enjoy!

BIG changes happening in Small Town, Georgia

There is a common question asked from potential coaching clients in general, but a very common question from practices located in Small Town, USA. “Can our office successfully implement a new perio protocol and not lose the confidence and trust that our patients have in us? We live in a small community where we all know each other very well. Many of our patients have been coming to us for years”. The answer is YES!!! See how this small but determined team led by Dr. Duane Robert from Blackshear, Georgia (population 3500) is successfully implementing in just two months a new perio protocol while keeping the trust of their patients.

Effective Doctor Exams

There are so many variables that take place in order to ensure having an EFFECTIVE doctor exam. Every single one of the 60 minutes (if you get a full 60) allotted are valuable. WE ARE OFTEN in a tug-o-war with getting the doctor to the hygiene chair in a timely fashion and then the balance between the appropriate amount of time for the doctor to do a good exam and answer patient questions but still keep the schedule on time.

Watch the video below where I discuss the top three key elements to help ensure an effective doctor exam almost every time!

It’s better to burn out than fade away…

It’s no secret there’s a high rate of burn out in the hygiene profession. The good news is it doesn’t have to be a career ender. You don’t have to just fade away and start over in a different industry.

There IS a way to get that hygiene mojo back and sometimes recognizing the signs of burn out can trigger you to do things differently.

For some tips on how to avoid and how to pull out of hygiene burn out, watch my latest video chat with Kevin Henry, Editor of Dental Products Report and Modern Hygienist.
